The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University was established by an Act passed by the parliament (No. 58 of 1994). The University came into existence on 10.01.1996 vide GOI, Ministry of HRD, Education Department Notification No. 8-16/GOI/desk/U-1 dated 05.01.1996. The basic philosophy and policies of the University are spelt out and enshrined in the University Act and Statutes. The University offers graduate and post-graduate students the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as persons and professionals, and the values and sensitivity necessary to serve the society. The University distinguishes itself as a socially responsible learning community of high quality scholarship and academic rigor sustained by social justice and equity principles for which Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar worked during his lifetime. The University draws from the cultural, intellectual and economic resources of Uttar Pradesh and other states to enrich and strengthen its educational programs.

Our university is preparing students from rural mainland of Uttar Pradesh in particular, and all parts of India in general, often coming from marginalized sections for leadership in a complex world.

It offers the kind of education needed through various inclusive, society-oriented programs for transforming our country in the disciplines of – Humanities and Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture, Biotechnology, Business, Law, Education and Environmental Sciences – through a breadth of highly regarded degree programs that allow students the freedom to explore their intellectual and personal growth. The faculty members at our University accept their responsibilities conscientiously, share leadership in a democratic spirit, and are subject to the highest standards of public trust.

The University strives to fulfill the objectives of its inception. University provides 50 percent seats of the all courses reserved for the student of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes. Now with the government directives university also offers 10 percent seats reserved for the Economically Weaker Section. University also provide fee exempted for the student of the Schedule Caste and Schedule tribes in regular courses. University also provide financial assistance to the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe students for their dissertation and thesis preparation. University also have a satellite Campus at Amethi started in the year of 2016. We have Gautam Buddha Central Library fully air conditioned with approximate 50 thousand books and 10 thousand online journals along with departmental libraries in the respective departments to cater the demand of the students pursuing studies in the University. University offers 99 courses that includes Diploma/integrated PG Programmes/UG/PG/M.Phil. and Ph.D. at its main campus and satellite campus at Amethi. University have one heath Centre with round the clock doctor availability. University provides residential facility for the students and faculties of the University. For the development of the Student University also have Centre for the personality Development with Residential Coaching Programme and remedial Coaching Centre. Student activity centre of University is in process will became active near soon.

In the coming year, BBAU will be taking up a range of other activities designed to further preserve our environment; provide learning experiences that develop inter-culturally capable graduates who can make a difference as socially and ethically responsible global citizens; address many obstacles confronting excellence within the University by enforcing strong leadership at all levels in academic, student life, service, and administrative area; develop a student-centred success culture and a staff-centred enabling culture; advance the international reach and influence with rigorous scholarship. Collaborations, professional preparation, and strategic initiatives, focus on emerging global educational trends and fair and sustainable human development; digging more rain harvesting pits; and planting more trees. The University also plans to own a radio station for the dissemination of community oriented information, education and knowledge.

Objectives

  1. To promote learning and provide instructional and research facilities of standard quality in higher education;
  2. To make provision for integrated courses in Science, Technology, Medical Sciences, Agriculture Sciences, Social Sciences, Legal Studies, Management, Humanities and Allied areas and research in frontier areas of knowledge.
  3. To take appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-learning process in inter-disciplinary studies and research in the educational programmes of the University;
  4. To offer appropriate courses and pay special attention for the development of socially, educationally and economically marginalised sections of the people in general and of members belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in particular;
  5. To promote the study of the principles for which Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar worked during his lifetime, namely, national integration, social justice and democratic way of life, and also study of the Constitution of the World.

The Vision of the University is, “To be a dynamic, creative and competitive Centre of Excellence in advanced knowledge, especially relevant for the development of the nation and of the socially, educationally and economically marginalized sections of the people”.

In the coming year, BBAU will be taking up a range of other activities designed to further preserve our environment; provide learning experiences surpassing cultured linguistic and geographical boundaries making our socially and ethically responsible global citizens. The university has designed a road map to achieve excellence, in making learner centre education through collaborations, and rigorous training promising employability for our graduates the strategic initiatives of Universities includes major focus on emerging global educational trends fair and sustainable human development and creation of knowledge base society which is ready to face the unforeseen challenges of tomorrow’s world. The University also plans to own a radio station for the dissemination of community oriented information, education and knowledge.

New initiatives undertaken by the University are towards improving infrastructure, campus development, the welfare of the faculty and student empowerment of women and weaker sections, creation of sports, health and other facilities, establishing new hostels for student, initiating innovation in academic and extra-curricular activities. The University is making serious efforts to attract the students from other countries. In this direction, an International student cell has been created which will work exclusively for the international students and their Hassel free admission. A post of Dean R&D has been created to promote collaboration consultancy services based on principals of public private partnership. These endeavors of University are surely going to earn laurels for the University
