The introduction of Correspondence Courses in the Mumbai University, in the year 1971-72, Was primarily for the benefit of students who. The Annual Report of the University for the year 1970-71, submitted by the Syndicate to the Senate, states as follows.

Correspondence Courses University for the benefit of a large number of Students who cannot avail themselves of the facilities of Morning/Evening classes, be explored. The suggestion was referred by the Syndicate to the Academic Council and the Council appointed a committee to consider it.

MUMBAI UNIVERSITY COURSES:-

1.	B.A.(Hist, Pol.Sc, Socio, Eco,Psy, Com, Eng, Mar, Hindi, Urdu, Education)	3 Years	H.S.C.(Xll Std.) Or Equivalent Exam. Passed for admission to F.Y.B.A.
2.	B.Com (Accounts OR Management Group)	3 Years	H.S.C (Xll Std) Commerce or Equivalent Exam. Passed for admission to F.Y.B.Com.
3.	B.Sc. (Information Technology)	3 Years (Six Semester)	HSC (XII) with Mathematics with minimum 45% marks (minimum 40% for reserved category) / Diploma in Engineering * or equivalent.
4.	B.Sc. (Computer Science)	3 Years	HSC (XII) Science with Mathematics or equivalent.
5.	B.Sc. ** (Nautical Technology)	3 Years	XII Science with PCM & English & Sponsored by a shipping company for providing 24 months a practical structured ship-board training as an officer trainee in the Nautical Department of a seagoing ship as approved sea-going service.
6.	M.A. .(Hist, Pol.Sc, Socio,Eco,Eng,Mar, Hindi,Urdu)	2 Years	Any Bachelor Degree from a Statutory University.
7.	M.A. (Education)	2 Years	B.Ed / B.A.(Education) Degree
8.	M.Com (Accounts OR Management Group)	2 Years	B.Com / BMS Degree
9.	MA/M.Sc. (Mathematics)	2 Years	B.A./ B.Sc with minimum 6 papers in Mathematics.
10.	M.Sc. (Information Technology)	2 Years	B Sc. with Comp. Sc. or B Sc. IT. Or BCS or B.E. in any branch
11.	M.Sc. (Computer Science)	2 Years	B Sc. with Statistics or Physics or Mathematics or B.Sc. Comp. Sc. or B Sc. IT
12.	M.C.A. *** (Master of Computer Application)	3 Years (Six Semester)	Graduate in any faculty of a statutory University with minimum 45% marks (minimum 40% for reserved category) and Mathematics at XII or higher level. There will be an aptitude test for the admission in MCA course
13.	PGDFM/PGDORM ( Diploma in Financial Management & Diploma in Operational Research for Management)	2 Years	Graduate professional experience. Defense persons who are not degree holders are admitted to the course.
